This city tour is an excellent opportunity for a “Meet & Greet” with Fortaleza. The tour departs from the hotel in the direction of Praia do Futuro. The incredible look out point offers an amazing panorama of practically all of Fortaleza. The Aldeota neighbourhood is the next attraction. This fancy neighbourhood has many shops and you can view the mausoleum from the Portugal Square. The tour continues towards the colonial neighbourhood of Praia Iracema. On the way, you can see the cultural centre Dragao do Mar with its quaint bars and restaurants. In Praia Iracema you will walk along the pier and naturally you will visit the world famous “Piratabar”. Then it is time to visit the Mercado Central. A true “shop till you drop” paradise with no less than 500 shops. The fascinating cathedral slightly further along will soon draw your attention and even fort Schooneburgh built in 1649 is well worth a look! You then stroll down to the Martelaars Square (Martyr Square) to take a look at the old prison that has been magically transformed into a quaint tourist centre with shops.

Next to this centre is Ceara’s first train station and from here it is a 5-minute walk to the symbol of the city, the Ferreira Square, where you can enjoy an elaborate lunch with delicious types of meats in a colonial house (optional). After lunch you head for the fable-like fishers village of Cumbuco (by minibus). On the way you can see the fishing harbour near the mouth of the Ceara river, which the province is named after. Once you arrive in Cumbuco a buggy excursion will be waiting to take you through the dunes, past the Parnamirim lagoon, and on the way you can go back sledding or sand boarding. Really hot! After this sensational trip, you can lay back and relax at one of the many beach bars. Perhaps you feel like a massage? Unfortunately after that it is almost time to return to your hotel, but before we come that far you will pass by the famous bikini street Avenida Senhor Tabosa. Here you can have your favourite bikini tailor made for you to show off an hour later on the beach, but you can even get shoes and slippers, they have it all at very low prices. So now you should be acquainted with Fortaleza and the surrounding area.
