The archipelago of Fernando de Noronha consists of twenty-one islands and approximately 1,800 inhabitants on its main island. It has become one of the most popular destinations in Brazil. This improbably beautiful group of islands lies approximately 350 km to the east of Natal and covers an area of 26 square kilometres. The largest part of the archipelago is a national park. The Brazilians are proud of their top holiday destination and now we know why!
Picture this: the ultimate tropical paradise in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Heavenly beaches and a crystal clear sea in various shades of blue, green and turquoise. It is the ideal location for diving and snorkelling, and find yourself in an unbelievably exotic underwater film. Turtles, parrot fish, dolphins, giant barracudas, sea urchins and corals: here you will discover all of this beauty provided by mother nature. And don’t forget, all this can be enjoyed at an all-year-round temperature of 27 degrees.
There is only one road on the islands, approximately seven kilometres long (the main island is only 17 square kilometres) and apart from that you will find sand paths full of stones and holes that will lead you to the most magical, idyllic and breathtaking bays you could ever imagine.
Dolphins Bay It is estimated that there are as many as 700 bottle-nosed dolphins living in the Baia dos Golfinhos of the Brazilian archipelago of Fernando de Noronha, the largest group of dolphins living in one fixed location in the world! Each afternoon at around three or four o’clock large numbers of them head out into the Atlantic Ocean to hunt for food and at around six in the morning they return to the warm, safe bay to rest, mate and especially to play.
